Amsterdam Rokin Street Area

Amsterdam is a city that is so full of attractions and fun things to do and see, each and every day of your vacation will be kept busy! While traveling in the city, there are certain places no tourist should miss – such as the Red Light District, the Museum Square with the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum, and of course the Dam Square. On one side of the Dam square you will find the Damrak with its many shops and beautiful historic buildings, leading to the Central Station; on the other side of the famous square you have Rokin, leading to the Munt square and the floating flower market. As you can see, there’s enough to experience in Rokin area.

At Rokin street, you can explore the Tobacco Shop or the Allard Pierson Museum or some of the shops such as V&D – a Dutch department store offering anything from clothing and cosmetics to food and household items. Check out the historical buildings that are lining this street – some have been standing there for hundreds of years! To the west of Rokin is Spui square, which is in fact car-free and attracts many visitors; especially on Fridays when the weekly book market takes place. If you plan on visiting Spui on a Sunday then make sure to check out the art market.
