Barcelona is situated between scenic mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. The Barceloneta neighborhood, where traditionally Barcelona’s fishermen lived, lies next to the sea. It is the home of the old port of the city, some great beaches and several family attractions.
There are plenty of things to do here, starting with the Aquarium and the Imax cinema which are located next to the Barceloneta metro station. Although there are better beaches in Barcelona, the Barceloneta beach is closer to the center, so would be easier for you to get there. The beach is packed with drummers, sand artists and various live performers, which is a great attraction if you are traveling with kids.
