Paris Ile Saint Louis Area

Ile Saint Louis is one of two famous islands on the River Seine, located on the east side of Paris. This island named after King Louis IX of France has a character that is particularly different and not as unique as its next door-island – Ile de la Cite. Ile Saint Louis is much more residential with mansions that are open for the public to explore.

Ile Saint Louis’ pleasant and calm atmosphere has attracted many famous figures including Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie and former French president George Pompidou. The small island is characterized by narrow, one way streets and very little public transportation compared to the rest of the city. There are nice shops, ice cream places and cafes to be found here, so this is a good area to spend some time if you need a break from all your sightseeing.
