Looking for some tips on things to do in London after dark? We’ve got plenty to say about London nightlife, let’s begin…
Our first tip for a night out in London is to remember that you are a tourist. There are a few things that you should experience, that a local would never do. For example, take a night tour to see all the must see London attractions while they are illuminated, or book an evening cruise, and do your London sightseeing in a whole new way. After all, you can go dancing whenever you like in your hometown, but you can’t see the Big Ben illuminated every night!
Nightlife in London – Musicals, Pubs & Bars
If you want to enjoy the London nightlife, the West End is a must. Again, you are a tourist, so you would probably like to see a musical or show at West End, and combine this with dinner at a nice restaurant, or drinks in a typical English pub perhaps. Our tip? Book your tickets well in advance. They will still be at a discount price, and you will know for sure that you have the right ticket to the right show. Discount stands in the center of London are considered a tourist trap and they could sell you the worst tickets in the house, for the same price you would get online…
Looking for some after hour culture? Some of the museums in London have late closing hours, and it’s a good idea to check which one will be open till late while you are in the city. For example: the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery will be open until 9PM daily, while Tate Modern will be open until 10PM on Fridays and Saturdays.
Of course, if you want to have a “traditional” night out, then London has everything you could wish for (and more)! Our tip would be to search for a club, bar or pub which is in the same area as your hotel. The underground closes around midnight, and a fare for a night taxi could be extremely expensive…
